The Webxpertz web development Rules
City Ordinances (just rules and regulations)
This forum is a great place to post questions and answers,
or simply have a productive discussion about web development.
We will delete anything we find inappropriate, but such posts
are very uncommon. Please follow these guidelines when posting:
- Avoid personal insults or flames
These rarely occur, although there have been some borderline cases. Historically, members have been very helpful and friendly to each other. To avoid any problems, try to be aware of how you're coming across. If you're using sarcasm or making a joke, make that clear so other members won't take it the wrong way. The bottom line: try to be polite.
- Abstain from spam or blatant advertising
Please don't post an advertisement. Members are allowed a two-line signature*
in which commercial URLs are permissible. They may also recommend sites (their own included),
but only if this helps answer the question.
*Due to variations in monitor size and screen resolution, this restriction is
open to interpretation. However, members are expected to be considerate of others
by conforming to the spirit of the rule. For example, the use of enlarged
font-sizes is strongly discouraged. If a signature is found to be excessive,
an administrator will ask the member to revise it.
- Respect copyrights and do not post illegal material
If you post copyrighted material (code, editorial content, graphics, etc),
attribute the source. We reserve the right to disclose any information about a
member to the proper authorities in the case of copyright infringement or any
other illegal activity.
- Refrain from cross-posting
Cross-posting is placing the same (or nearly the same) message in more than one
forum. Please choose the forum most appropriate and post your message there.
- Hold back from flooding
"Flooding" is posting similar questions in different threads in a short
period of time.
- DO NOT POST IN ALL CAPS OR ALL BOLD TYPE
Text in all capital letters or bold-face type is commonly considered yelling on
public forums.
- Don't ask others to do your homework
Due to ethical concerns, posts requesting help with a school assignment should
not be given a direct solution. Members may offer assistance by "leading you in the
right direction," provided you have already put forth some effort. Post your
code or a URL so members can guide you along.
- Resist making demands of other members
Everyone answering questions in this forum is donating his/her time to help people
without compensation. Demanding help within a certain time frame or insisting
that code be written for you is unacceptable. The community will try to help you,
but it is not responsible for deadlines that are not met, projects that are not
finished, non-working code, or any other problems that may occur, whether your
question was answered or not.
- Avoid political, religious, and other potentially explosive topics
This forum is meant to be a place for friendly conversation. In order to keep
it that way, we must place a ban on certain topics. We are very reluctant to limit a free and open exchange of views, but cannot allow heated discussions that could lead to a hostile
environment.
- Read the forum FAQ before posting
Our FAQ section answers most common questions about the forum, as well as a
number of HTML, JavaScript, and other web development questions. Checking this first
may save you from waiting for a reply.
