For continued disscussion on this topic : Looking for newsletter scripts

Hi all,

I´m looking for something to manage the newsletter for my site with. I have around 500 subscribers by now and am running my newsletter through egroups. So far that works fine, but I wanna get rid of the advertisement.

Are there any cgi-scripts you can recommend? It doesn´t need fancy stuff, all I need is a simple sript that can handle that number of subscribers. Also it would be nice if the message could be send out as HTML, but that´s not a necessity.
The most important point is that it´s easy to set up, since I´m a newbie at this.

Is there anything else I should look for? Something I need to pay attention to when looking for a script for newsletters?

Thanks in advance for any input. :)

Andre

I think Listbot is pretty good, you can lose their ad by paying a small (monthly?) fee.

The cgi programs that do it might upset your host if you have a large list since they tend to use sendmail and it looks like you are sending a mass mailing out of nowhere. Of course, if they don't mind, check out

They should have a few newletter management scripts. :)

Hi Kool Dude,

sorry for the late reply. I have been to cgi-resources already and have been looking at a few scripts, but I was either unable to get them to run or they didn´t have what I was looking for (easy to set up and maintain, supports multiple lists).
I really liked Mojo mail, if you happen to know that one. It´s easy and the guy who wrote it gives great support. Also I like the way it looks and handles a lot, but unfortunately I can´t really get it to run 100% correct either, despite the help the author gave me.

Do you have an URL for this Listbot so I can take a look at it? Oh, and as for upsetting my host, do you think 500 something mails a week would really upset them? didn´t ask them yet, but is that number really that much? I´m pretty inexperienced with all this, so I really have no clue. Is there maybe a better way to run newsletters than through cgi-scripts?

Thanks in advance for any tips! :)
