Who was it a while back that recommended Aletia aka JaguarPC (http://www.jaguarpc.com/) for hosting? Ive been seriously considering getting some hosting with them but Im still not quite convinced. Im mainly worried about support, server stability and coppa. Can anyone share any experiences good/bad from being hosted there?

I used to recommend them. I now however have to tell you that I no longer recommend them due to them out-sourcing support. Now I recommend the following two:

Out-sourcing the support? Sorry, Ive never heard that before what exactly do you mean? Just not enough support there?

Their tech support is located in India and reads from a book provided by Aletia/Jaguar.

All they know is what is in the manual, and they only know what they have read up to when you sent in a support question otherwise they will have to spend 20 minutes finding it in their manual.

Their server load times and their support went down the drain and that is when I left. Now I am with a hosting company where I can get immediate support.

Wow... lots of experience behind their belts then huh? :p Thanks for the info. I will check out the other links you posted.

Since my original post friends have gotten hosting there and Ive been helping out a little behind the scenes, so I should be able to tell how it is after a little time there. My main concern is really with support at this point. There are lots of people complaining about them not answering phones when people call for support, they enter a fake phone number when they register domains (so they dont get solicited Im told), they really dont give support in their forums, and their response to one of my support tickets was VERY discouraging. But Id like to give it some more time still. I dont want to judge based on one or two bad experiences. After all support areas are generally used when people have problems and bad experiences so you need to expect to see that kind of thing. I just hope its not ongoing.
