Ulaire Smiley 02-02-2002, 03:25 PM Hey there!
HOT1, you shouldn't put your message in all caps. Your thread could get deleted by a moderator for that. See rule no. 8 in the forum rules (http://www.webxpertz.net/forums/register.php?s=&action=signup&who=adult).

I have a small answer.
The best language to use depends entirely what you want to do and what host you have.
The main choices for server side coding are CGI/Perl for the Unix minded, PHP for most hosts, and ASP if you're happy to remain forever on Microsoft boxes.
The choice is yours!
Thank You piglet...
Ok, I need only to see a simple program of
ColdFusion and ASB and I will see any one is easy for me to understad it?
Can you write a simple program for Enter 5 Student name with grades of them , then find the medium of grade ?
Carl V 02-03-2002, 06:07 AM Firstly, you do know HTML right? If you don't that would be the way to go.
diades 02-03-2002, 12:03 PM Hi Hot1
Firstly, the term is "ASP" or "Active Server Pages" not "ASB":D
Can you write a simple program for Enter 5 Student name with grades of them , then find the medium of grade ?
Secondly, many people could do that but, it sounds suspiciously like a school/college asignment, is it?
If you wish to see examples of ASP, just click on the search button (top right) and search on ASP, you will find plenty of examples.
jgunsch: Thanks for the aid but, could you leave the warnings to the mods etc? Whilst you are correct in what you say, with terms such as ASP etc., uppercase should be used as they are the initials that make up the mnemonic. Thanks for your understanding.
gzazJim 02-04-2002, 06:11 PM Hi HOT1, et al,
Well it really depends what you need. If you're running on a Windows Server (or a UNIX server with ChilliASP! installed...), I'd stick with ASP, which is (primarily) VB-Script based.
If you have the money to buy and install ColdFusion Server and the time to learn a whole new language, ColdFusion is a very powerful solution.
ColdFusion is more of an Application Server - it sits on top of the server and parses CF-specific code. ASP is a language that can be run BY the server itself on-the-fly (assuming the server is IIS).
Regards,
Jim
Thank You ,
Thank You ... gzazJim
